Here is my first project! Using Google Apps Script, I made a program for the Compass Award charity to create pdf receipts for donations (from a google spreadsheet) and email them to the respective donors.
The program does rely on clean data so this is what the sheet should look like initially. The last two columns are a small legend for what should be filled in and what the program will fill in itself. The menu "Manage donations receipts" has an option "Process receipts" that will create the receipts and fill in the output values.
This is how the spreadsheet will look after the receipts are done being generated. The output is the receipt number (based off position in the spreadsheet), the date the receipt was generated, a link to the pdf receipt in google drive, whether an email has been sent to the donor, and how many times. The "Manage donations receipts" menu also has an option "Send emails" that sends the pdf and an email body template (from the "Email Template" sheet) to the donors email address.
This is what the sheet looks like after the emails are sent. The email template for the email is decided in the event column of the sheet. The third row did not have an email sent because it is missing a necessary parameter (either First AND Last name OR Company name)
This is an example of an email body template that the donor would receive with the pdf receipt attached.Â
